Gen-Y is a generation that has never been without today’s level of access to goods, information and even their friends with new social media. But the journey is never-ending. Where do these new consumers of Access see it taking us next?
For the past three years, FedEx has been talking about Access to influencers, customers, employees and other key audiences. Now we want to hear back from this Access Generation.
At this juncture in time, the economy faces two “systemic” near-term problems. First, the financial side the economy is very close to a “liquidity trap” – a situation in which conventional monetary policy loses all traction. Second, the real side the economy is in what Keynes called a “paradox of thrift” – when the entire private sector (businesses and households) tries to save more at the same time, it creates a downward spiral in business activities.
There’s been lots of discussion recently about energy reform and America’s need to reduce its dependence on foreign oil. Given the gravity of this issue, I truly believe the outcome of this national conversation will be a defining moment in American history.
To me, the solution to U.S. energy independence consists of three fundamental pillars.
What a tragedy that's unfolding in Mumbai. The financial center of India is under siege. Terrorist outfits equipped with modern arms and ammunition entered several prominent establishments like the Taj Mahal Hotel, Hotel Oberoi and Trident, Chattrapati Shivaji Rail Terminus and wreaked mayhem! My heart cries out for all those impacted by this senseless tragedy. The unknown innocents, the brave policemen who died answering the call of duty, visitors to India who had come for business or pleasure - the number of deceased has crossed the 100 mark as I write this.
The U.S. and India may be thousands of miles apart, but in many ways, we are getting a lot closer. One sign of growing U.S.-India ties is the introduction of direct flights that connect the two countries.
