EX0377.preview.jpg Recently, President Obama issued a proclamation regarding World Trade Week, designating the week beginning May 17 as an opportunity to recognize the important benefits global trade brings to the world economy — and why in difficult economic times, it is even more critical “to take advantage of every opportunity for export-driven growth.” I couldn’t agree more.

EX0009.preview.jpg Like me, you might be surprised to learn that Earth Day has been in existence even before FedEx was born.  Concern for the environment continues to shape the way people think, work and live today.  We are all learning to make better choices to shrink our environmental footprint. It’s a modern responsibility, and a challenge to our ability to imagine and innovate. As we mark the latest Earth Day anniversary on April 22, I thought it would be the right time to point out that FedEx has been working hard to connect the world in responsible and resourceful ways.

In November, leaders of the G20 pledged to refrain from raising barriers to trade and investment for a year.  A few days later, however, they started backing away from their commitments.

I had the good fortune to live and work in China about 10 years ago.  It was (and is) one of the most challenging and dynamic countries in the world -- and I have worked in quite a few countries in my 34 years with FedEx! Much has changed in China over the years, but our commitment to China never has.  The newly opened Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China is the latest milestone for FedEx -- it is now our largest hub outside of the U.S. testflightwelcome.jpg
