Thinking Globally on The Eve of Earth Day 2009
Like me, you might be surprised to learn that Earth Day has been in existence even before FedEx was born.
Concern for the environment continues to shape the way people think, work and live today. We are all learning to make better choices to shrink our environmental footprint. It’s a modern responsibility, and a challenge to our ability to imagine and innovate.
As we mark the latest Earth Day anniversary on April 22, I thought it would be the right time to point out that FedEx has been working hard to connect the world in responsible and resourceful ways.
From disaster relief and pedestrian safety to health and human services and the environment, we are there. You can see specific examples in our Global Citizenship Report – currently available in English, French, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish at http://csr.fedex.com. Summaries of the report are also available there in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Thai, and Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
This report is especially critical because it outlines achievements and ambitious, long-term goals toward sustaining our role as a good corporate citizen.
While the word “citizenship” may not always translate perfectly around the world – both literally and figuratively – the idea is truly at the heart of who we are.
