The global capabilities of FedEx combined with excellent logistical support saves precious time as those impacted by disaster struggle with the loss of many of the basic needs of life we often take for granted, safe water being one of the most acute needs. We are blessed to have FedEx as our valued corporate partner. Together, we have the privilege of bringing sustainable access to safe water in developing countries and disaster areas.

This blog is great and being a 24 year veteran with Fedex I have to say that it's people that matter when you're talking about disaster relief. FedEx made it possible for me and my family to move to a tsunami disaster area along the Indian Ocean coast of Sumatra Indonesia. We worked in an area of coastline where an estimated 80,000 people died instantly on the morning of December 26th. As the head of a Non Government Organization based in Memphis my family moved there for 3 months assembling Water Missions units, building boats, infrastructure repair, etc. in different villages along the coastline. The can do spirit of Fedex people in Memphis GOC/GFMC, Singapore ramp ops made this possible along with other departments to move the water systems from Singapore to Medan Indonesia where I was able to coordinate trucking to Meulaboh, Chalong, and Ponga villages devastated by the tsunami. These systems are still producing drinking water and in some cases the village communities have created a micro-business platform in order to create jobs for the people as they move from disaster relief in to recovery. The people there were fascinated about the company Fedex and that Fedex cared enough to send them water purification systems to their people, along with people like myself to help them assemble and teach them how to maintain the units.
