Pack, Ship and Win

Last week, FedEx Office had some extra holiday help. And no, it’s not what you think - Santa’s elves are still working hard at the North Pole.

Instead, NFL players practiced their off-field skills of packing and shipping for customers in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.   This event kicked off a national sweepstakes that offers customers a chance to win a trip to the Super Bowl XLIV, the 2010 Pro Bowl and other great prizes.

Here in Dallas, we packed with Jason Witten, Cowboys tight end and two-time winner of the Cowboys Man of the Year award. Senior Center Manager Matt Reeves said there was lots of excitement at the store, with a line of customers wrapped around the aisle, waiting to meet Jason to get his autograph and have him pack their shipments.

Jason was very enthusiastic and friendly, and was about a head taller than almost anyone in the store!  You could definitely tell that an athlete was present.  He readily boxed, taped and shipped customer packages, and said that he really enjoyed his experience “on the job” and would absolutely come to work for FedEx Office if the football gig didn’t work out.  Unfortunately for us, his football career looks pretty promising!

Corina Sustaita, Service Assurance Manager and a longtime Cowboys fan, trained Jason on how to properly pack the assortment of autographed items.  Corina gave him her stamp of approval, saying, “He did an awesome job with the packing!  We should definitely hire him.”

What did Matt, our center manager, think of Jason’s packing?  “He needs some practice on his H-taping, but he’s got a great attitude!”
