Earlier this month I had the honor of presenting Phil Meadows, a courier in Bloomington, Minnesota, with the 35-year Purple Distinction Pin. Phil began his distinguish career at Federal Express on November 4th in 1974. In addition to being the most tenured courier in the Northland District, Phil also achieved an accident free driving record for 33 years! With the intense focus that FedEx Express, and the entire FedEx network, has on safety, this is something to really commend him on.
Greetings to all FedEx team members and FedEx racing fans!
The weekend (Oct. 24 & 25) is big for FedEx Racing as we celebrate the teamwork that all of the FedEx team members around the world display every day.
As we wind down the 2009 NASCAR season, I'll have the #11 FedEx Toyota on the track at Martinsville Speedway in the Sprint Cup Series, gunning for a win at my home state track. My teammate at Joe Gibbs Racing, Kyle Busch, will be running a very special #18 FedEx Toyota in the Nationwide Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park.
I have been with FedEx since May of 1991. I started working as an Aviation Maintenance Technician in JFK and then moved on to work in Memphis at the Avionics Line Department which handles all aircraft electronic related work before, during and after the hub turn daily. I worked there for eight years.I then sought a position to be an Avionics Technician at the Memphis Hangar 11/12 Avionics Shop. It’s here that we do all scheduled maintenance for FedEx Airbus and B727, as well as drop in maintenance for the rest of our fleet.

Saturday morning began with the announcement of the top three finishers in each class. FedEx scored big with 10 finalists in six of the nine classes including sweeps of 3-Axle and Step Van. The finalists took one last crack at mastering the course before the final order was announced. FedEx walked away with four national champions: Don Logan-3-Axle, Mark McLean-Twins, Troy Swenson – 5-Axle Sleeper, David Thompson-Step Van.
