Taking Recess for the March of Dimes

Remember what recess was like back when you were in grade school? If the weather was nice, you probably couldn’t wait to race outside to romp and play. Fun was usually the order of the day.A team of FedEx employees recently rekindled those days of yore with a few twists. Instead of a schoolyard playground, the fun and games will take place in the corner of a parking lot at the FedEx World Technology Center in Collierville, Tenn. Instead of young children, the participants were gleeful FedEx employees on their lunch break.

FedEx Express Flight 80

By now you may have heard or seen reports that FedEx Express Flight 80 (MD-11) from Guangzhou to Narita was involved in a major incident upon landing. The incident occurred at about 2200Z, Sunday, March 22 (5 pm CST; just before 7 a.m. local time at Narita). Two crew members were onboard. Sadly, I have to share the terrible news that our flight crew did not survive. The loss pains all of us at FedEx. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of our crew. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

FedEx Among Best Companies for Leaders

FedEx recently received recognition in Chief Executive magazine’s “2008 Best Companies for Leaders” list, placing 13th out of 1,140 companies that applied for the award. FedEx Aids Daffodil Days to Help Defeat Cancer

Although she’s not the type to brag, Nan Malebranche deserves much credit for transforming the delivery component of the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days program from an amateurish operation largely run from the trunks of cars in her area into a smooth and efficient process with the help of FedEx.

Runway Closure at MEM - No problem

I am sure many of you have heard the MEM Airport will be closing down one of its runways for repairs/resurfacing from March through November of this year. Let me spend a few minutes letting you know the actions we are taking to minimize the impact to our customers.
