As the United States is preparing to celebrate its 233rd birthday, I'm reminded of all the great reasons that make this country great. Baseball, Apple Pie and Cracker Jacks come to mind, but also all the men and women who have served and are serving our country at the local, state and national level.
I'm also reminded of a great event that took place a little less than a year ago in Austin, Texas. The Texas Military Forces Museum needed a special delivery of some historical World War II artifacts.

Many of you may recall that Earvin "Magic" Johnson was a member of the original U.S. "Dream Team" at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona where he helped bring home the gold in men's basketball. In early December, FedEx teamed up with this legendary NBA champion to make dreams come true for underprivileged kids in Los Angeles and Harlem.

This is the fifth year FedEx Special Delivery joined forces with the Washington Redskins Harvest Feast, a food distribution event at FedEx Field. The program, supported by Operation Blessing distributes 36,000 pounds of turkey and 90,000 pounds of food to residents of Prince George’s County, Maryland.This year more than 70 FedEx employees came together with more than 300 other local volunteers to help the community living around FedEx Field.
