I’m Happy to Serve at FedEx

I like challenges. I’ve decided to challenge myself this week and I want you to do the same.  I want to challenge you this week to thank those around us who help us everyday try to balance my life.   This week is Administrative Assistant week.  It is a time set aside to thank those who make our lives easier.  As I thought of the continuous challenge of balancing our lives and specifically our work life; I was reminded of just how many people I rely on to accomplish all the projects in my life.

Teach For America Week 2009

Most of us remember our favorite teacher. You know, the one who opened our eyes to a whole new world, gave us the confidence to explore new ideas or motivated us to rise to the challenge. Through his or her dedication and commitment to education, doors were opened for hundreds, if not thousands of students.

Sheila Harrell Named Customer Service Executive of the Year

On February 10, Executive Director of the Customer Service Institute of America, Christine Churchill presented FedEx Customer Service Vice President Sheila Harrell with the 2008 Customer Service Executive of the Year award. Sheila was awarded the honor on November 17, 2008, but due to the busy holiday season and other commitments she was not able to attend the awards ceremony.  Sheila accepted the award in front of and on behalf of her team in a small gathering on the FedEx campus. Teach For America: A Leadership Pipeline

Support from FedEx was crucial to bringing Teach For America to Memphis in 2006.  Two years later, Teach For America has placed over 150 corps members in Memphis City Schools and has become a leadership pipeline for schools and administration in the district.  Nearly 15% of all principals in Washington, D.C. are Teach For America alumni as is the Chancellor of schools, Michelle Rhee.  By 2010, Teach For America will have nearly 800 school leaders across the country.
