We recently sponsored a disaster preparedness event with Red Cross, NASCAR and a large group of middle school students. When I was in middle school, my family moved to the Virgin Islands. Back then I was somewhat familiar with disaster preparedness - as we took hurricane season very seriously - but I was not familiar with NASCAR. While NASCAR drivers race at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour and drive on high tech speedways, the top speed limit in the islands was 40 miles per hour and lines were painted on roads by a guy in a motorcycle sidecar with a bucket of paint and a brush! For the second year, FedEx is supporting March of Dimes by unveiling a new, co-branded paint scheme on the #11 FedEx Office Toyota Camry to promote the March for Babies in 2009. FedEx Driver Denny Hamlin, who will race the new paint scheme April 18, 2009, in Phoenix, needs a new racing helmet especially for this event. To help Denny find the perfect helmet, FedEx is conducting a design contest. If you are a FedEx team member with a child under the age of 12 who would like to win the chance to have his or her artwork featured on Denny’s helmet, we want to see those drawings!

CAJH103[1].jpg.jpg I have had the opportunity to speak with many employees and stakeholders and read a number of the comments on this blog since our recent cost reductions announcement and I thought it was important to address questions that have been raised regarding our advertising and marketing programs.
