If you’re like me, you have a long shopping list this holiday season.  But have you ever stopped to think where the products you purchase come from? Chances are, those flowers you ordered online came from flower farms in Latin America.  The hand-crafted bracelet you bought in a department store could have come from Bali or even India. This is not just a sign of the times.  Over the past three centuries, the levels of access people have had to goods, services and even each other has risen dramatically.

Gen-Y is a generation that has never been without today’s level of access to goods, information and even their friends with new social media. But the journey is never-ending. Where do these new consumers of Access see it taking us next? For the past three years, FedEx has been talking about Access to influencers, customers, employees and other key audiences. Now we want to hear back from this Access Generation.

Walk Into the Gap

Do I really understand the education achievement gap? If you were to ask a parent, or even a student, from an economically-challenged community if their school was as good as those on the other side of town, what would they say? In 2005, only 13% of seniors graduating from Locke High School in Los Angeles were eligible to attend college in the Cal State system. Elections Prove It's All About Access

America just concluded one of the most defining Presidential campaigns in its history. More citizens than ever before crowded polling places and exercised their right to vote. And for the first time on the same ballot, these empowered citizens were given the opportunity to elect our country’s first female Vice President or its first African American President. It was a huge moment for all Americans – one I hope continues to energize us for the future.
